RMDS Choir
The RMDS Choir sings a wide range of music in two concerts each year, in Ringwood and the surrounding New Forest. A friendly choir with our musical director Ollie Squibb, we rehearse once a week at The Wesley Centre, Ringwood. The choir is integral to the wider musical society and proceeds from the concerts support various local churches and charities.
Meet our Musical Director
Ollie works as a Musician based in and around Southampton. Alongside the RMDS choir, Ollie directs Rising Stars Productions, Gospel Phonics, Romsey Ladies Choir and Winchester A Cappella.
Ollie teaches singing for Southampton Music Services, clarion for the National Open Youth Orchestra and is a private peripatetic teacher. He is currently working with the SÓN Orchestra as their Education Officer and is the Youth Ambassador on Southampton Music Hub’s board.
Ollie achieved a first class honours in Music at the University of Southampton. His studies specialised in performance, conducting and composition. He has been awarded Grade 8 in Singing, Clarinet, Recorder and Saxophone.
He has worked on countless concerts and shows including ’Seussical’, ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Legally Blonde’, ‘Annie Jr.’, ’Singin’ in the Rain Jr.’ and ’Sister Act’.”
What do we sing?
Under the direction of Ollie Squibb, the programmes contain a wide range of music from opera choruses to folk songs from around the world, sacred to jazz. Every one of our concerts aims to be unique.
When do we perform?
The Choir performs two series’ of concerts each year, one in June and one in December. Tickets for these can be purchased online by following the link on the left hand side of the website. The Choir has also visited Ringwood’s twin town, Pont Audemer in Normandy on two separate tours, giving several concerts in their baroque church.
When do we rehearse?
Rehearsals are 19.45 – 22.00 on Thursday evenings at The Wesley Centre, Ringwood.
