Can you think on your feet while an audience is LAUGHING? Do you have a good sense of COMIC TIMING? Are you full of ideas for things that are FUNNY? RMDS is recruiting for the 2025 Soiree cast and that could be YOU!
Date: Wednesday 7th May
Time: from 8pm
Venue: Ann Rose Hall at Greyfriars
A workshop evening is planned to consist of the following:
* Introduction to the Creative Team (Charlotte Hockey and Julian Peckham)
* History of the Soirée
* Outline of changes to recruitment process inclusive of all RMDS members
* Warm up game
* Improvisation games
* Informal sing and movement to ‘We Go Together’ from Grease
Please come prepared to tell us a joke you think will make us laugh PLUS an idea for a joke or situation you believe might make a good front-of-curtain sketch for two or three people. The Soirée is a collaborative effort, so everyone’s ideas are valuable. Don’t panic, though – it’s intended to be an informal event. Some drinks and nibbles will be supplied. Soirée rehearsals start in earnest in August after the Summer Show (Mondays and Wednesdays) but in the lead-up to that we have planning meetings on Tuesdays a couple of times a month where we create the framework for the show in preparation to get started – as already stated, it’s a collaborative effort so you’ll be expected to contribute to these meetings too.
You must be able to commit to rehearsals every Monday and Wednesday from August to October with Show week commencing on Tuesday 28th October 2025.

RMDS Easter Musical 2025 – Ghost
Would you like to join the cast of RMDS’ next musical? Could YOU be our Oda Mae, Clara, Louise or Willie Lopez?
We are nearing the audition dates for our production of Ghost the Musical and we are looking for performers who might be interested in taking part.
Oda Mae is a larger than life charlatan psychic who has great comedic timing and a big heart, usually portrayed by a black female
Oda Maes’ sisters Clara and Louise, are part of the elaborate act and unaware of their sisters undiscovered talent, usually portrayed by black females
Willie Lopez, menacing and dangerous, a hired criminal involved in the mugging gone wrong, usually portrayed by a male of Puerto Rican descent
If you are interested in joining the cast/crew for this production in any way here are the dates for the upcoming get together and auditions:
Get Together: Monday 16th September 7:30
Auditions: Sunday 22nd September 2pm

Tickets for the RMDS Soiree 2024 will be on sale from Tuesday 23 July and can be bought from our box office via the front page of the website or the link below. The seating plan remains the same as previous years in The Barn with table of 10. As usual you are welcome to bring your own picnic and snacks but all drinks must be purchased from the RMDS Bar. We look forward to seeing you in the autumn.

The RMDS choir under their musical director, Oliver Squibb will be performing a celebration of Movie Music Magic in two concerts taking place at Trinity United Church in Ringwood this June. Tickets are on sale now for Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June

RMDS is pleased to once again being performing at The Barn in Ringwood at Easter with a brand new format show incorporating songs from well known musicals, some performed by RMDS and some which we aspire to perform one day. Incorporating singing, dancing and some links to past shows of RMDS this show will have you leaving The Barn humming all those well known songs. We look forward to seeing you at Easter.
